MOUSE CLINIC

First things first! If you've never used a computer, take this class first.
The Mouse Clinic workshop is for patrons who have no experience with a computer. The topics that will be covered in this workshop are You will use the mouse to perform its 4 basic functions: Pointing, Clicking (double-clicking, triple-clicking), Dragging, and Right-clicking. The exercises will help you become familiar with computer terminology, computer environment and the mouse. This is strictly a Beginner's workshop so if you are already familiar with these topics, you should not sign up for this workshop.
PREREQUISITE: None.

PC BASICS

Figure out Windows and move through Windows with ease.
The Computer Basics workshop is for patrons who have no experience with a computer. The topics that will be covered in this workshop are computer components, computer environment and computer concepts. The exercises will help you become familiar with computer environment and computer concepts. This is strictly a Beginner's workshop so if you are already familiar with these topics, you should not sign up for this workshop.

Learn how the World Wide Web works and what web browsers are.
The workshop is for patrons who have a little experience with using computers and who want to use the Internet. In this workshop, you will learn how search engines work. You will learn to search faster using different search engines and to understand search syntax and what determines the best sites and the best type of engines for your different searches.

You will be able to setup a free email account and start emailing that day.
The workshop is for patrons who have a little experience with using web browsers. You will use Internet Explorer 5 to setup a free email account and start emailing immediately. You will also learn how to send attachments.

You will become familiar with the keyboard and learn how to navigate the computer with just the keyboard.
This class is for those who do not know the placement of the keys on a keyboard and would like to know the different function of the keys. You will also learn the highly secretive keyboard shortcuts that allow you to navigate windows without a mouse. NOTICE: Use of the mouse is prohibited in this class.

This course will provide students with the basics of using MS Publisher 2000. The features of Publisher enable the student to design and publish flyers, brochures, pamphlets, booklets, and more. In this course, you will learn to create a new publication, insert text, graphics, clip art and pictures, and format the publication. You will also learn how to preview and print a publication, combine text with pictures to create a range of publications.
