Directions to the Main Branch

From the South via the Garden State Parkway:
Take exit 145 (Oranges - Newark - Harrison). Follow signs to East Orange and Central Avenue. Turn right on South Grove Street towards Central Avenue. Turn right on Central Avenue and follow to South Arlington Avenue. Turn right.

From the North via the Garden State Parkway:
Take exit 145 (Oranges - Newark - Harrison). Follow signs to East Orange and Central Avenue. At Central Avenue turn right and follow to South Arlington Avenue. Turn right.

From the West via Route 280:
Take the Harrison Street - Clinton Street - East Orange exit to Freeway Drive East. Stay to the right and do not follow signs back to Route 280. Turn right on South Arlington Avenue.

From the East via Route 280:
Take the East Orange - Clinton Street exit. Stay to the left as you exit on Freeway Drive West. At South Burnet Street (2nd traffic light), turn left. At the first traffic light, turn left onto Freeway Drive East. Follow to South Arlington Avenue and turn right.
There is a metered parking lot and some limited free parking on the street.

Directions from Main Library to Branches

Ampere Branch:
Turn left out of the Library's parking lot onto South Arlington Avenue. Continue on South Arlington, which will turn into North Arlington, until you get to Springdale Avenue (old brown Church on the corner). Make a right turn onto Springdale Avenue. Continue on Springdale Avenue until it curves. Follow the curve to the right (do not go under the train trestle). Ampere Branch is right there as soon as you bear to the right, at 39 Ampere Plaza.

Elmwood Branch:
Turn right out of the Library's parking lot onto South Arlington Avenue. Proceed on South Arlington until you get to Central Avenue. Make a right onto Central Avenue. Continue on Central Avenue until you get to South Clinton Avenue (Boston Market on the corner). Make a left turn onto South Clinton Avenue. Continue on South Clinton for one long block. Elmwood branch is on the right at the end of block on the corner of Elmwood Avenue at 317 South Clinton Avenue.

Franklin Branch:
Turn right onto South Arlington Avenue out of the Library's parking lot. Continue on South Arlington, which will turn into North Arlington Avenue, until you get to Park Avenue. Make a left onto Park Avenue. Continue on Park Avenue until you get to Glenwood Avenue. Make a right onto Glenwood Avenue. Continue on Glenwood Avenue until Dodd Street ( small park at this intersection). Turn left onto Dodd Street. Franklin Branch is at 192 Dodd Street, right next to the small park.
