1. Place a book on hold:
If the book you are looking for is currently checked out, stop by the Information Desk to have the book placed on
hold. Once the book is returned, you will be notified either via phone or email. In order to place a hold, your
library card must be in good standing*.
Please note failure to pick up your hold or ILL item may result in a 50¢ fine, and the loss of your
2. Inter-library Loan:
ILL gives us the ability to borrow library materials from other libraries through-out the state of New Jersey.
In order to make request through ILL, you library card must be in good standing*. There is a maximum of 4
ILL requests per person. The delivery time varies. If you need the book immediately, ReBL may be a better option.
All ILL books once checked out, will only circulate for 14 days. ILL books are non-renewable.
3. Book purchase suggestion:
You may suggest a book at the information desk. The Collection Development committee will then review the request,
and decide whether or not to purchase the item for our collection.
4. ReBL (Reciprocal Essex Borrowing Libraries):
East Orange residents who are 18 years and older are able to apply for a ReBL card. Patrons must present their
current East Orange library card. All ReBL cards expire at the end of the calendar year, and must be renewed
every year. In order to be eligible for a ReBL card your library card must be in good standing*.
* Good standing – No money owed on your library card, no overdue materials, and a valid
telephone number or email address for contacting purposes.
