How to access the library’s Wi-Fi

The East Orange Public Library uses the current Wi-Fi standards. Each floor has wireless access points at the main library. When your network card senses a signal and established a connection, a message will appear on your screen informing you a wireless network is available.

Hardware Requirements

You will need an 802.11b/g/n wireless Ethernet device (wireless card) installed or a laptop with built in Wi-Fi capability.

Software Requirements

  • A Web browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, etc.
  • TCP client that is set to obtain an address automatically from a server.

How to connect to wireless network

  • If you see a message stating "Wireless networks detected", click on the message balloon to view wireless networks. This is if Windows is used to manage your wireless network connections.
  • From the list, select “eopl” and then click the "connect" button and wait for it to connect.
  • If your wireless networking is managed by your wireless adapter software, you will select the “eopl” network through that software program.

How to print while using wireless

PrinterOn is available for our wireless internet users. Print outs can be picked up and paid for at the Main branch circulation desk. Or you can save the information to a flash drive and use our print system.

Can the Library staff assist me with configurations?

Library staff will provide general information on the settings necessary to access the Internet via these connections, but are not responsible for any changes users make to their computer settings and cannot guarantee that a user's hardware will work with the Library's wireless connection. If a user has problems accessing the Internet over these connections, staff cannot assist in making changes to the user's network settings or perform any troubleshooting on the user's own computer. Users should refer to their owner's manuals or other support services offered by their device manufacturer.

Limitations and Disclaimers

  • The Library's wireless network is not secure. Information from your laptop can be captured by anyone else with a wireless device within 300 feet.
  • The Library staff is not able to offer any technical assistance.
  • The Library cannot guarantee that you will be able to make a wireless connection.
  • The Library will not be responsible for the safety of your laptop nor its configuration, security, or data files in the result of using our wireless network.
