East Orange Public Library Hosts Local Authors and Publisher, Just Us Books for Book Launch
East Orange, NJ, (October 14, 2021) – East Orange Public Library (EOPL) is proud to host East Orange’s own local award-winning publisher, Just Us Books for a special book launch for their two new titles on Wednesday, October 27th at 4pm.
The founders of Just Us Books, Wade Hudson and Cheryl Willis Hudson will be present to introduce their new books to attendees. The first book, edited by the Hudsons is “Recognize: An Anthology Honoring and Amplifying Black Life.” “It features more than thirty award-winning Black authors and artists who come together to create a moving anthology collection celebrating Black love, Black creativity, Black resistance, and Black life,” said Wade Hudson. The second title, is Hudson’s coming-of-age memoir, “Defiant, Growing Up in the Jim Crow South.” “This powerful book for middle grades shares the struggles, joys, love, and ongoing resilience that it took to grow up Black in segregated America and the lessons that carry over to our fight for a better future today,” added Hudson.
In 2019, EOPL received a $1000 book donation from Just Us Books to benefit the children’s department. When approached by the publisher for EOPL to host their book launch, Library Director Carolyn Ryan Reed was overjoyed. “EOPL’s paramount mission is in support of our community,” said Reed. “As East Orange is the hometown for Just Us Books, we could not be more proud of the partnership between our two organizations.”
