Join the East Orange Public Library in January 2025 for Muslim Heritage Month.
All month long, we will be highlighting materials to learn about and celebrate the rich history of Muslims in America and the world.
Join us on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 1pm for a screening of the documentary “8 Centuries of Muslims in America“. Refreshments will be served and a discussion will follow.
“8 Centuries of Muslims in America” is an epic documentary about the evolution of Islam in the western hemisphere. This production follows the arrival of Muslims who came from Africa and practiced their faith long before Christopher Columbus arrived in 1492. From the slave trade to immigration, this movie traces the powerful impact of Muslims in America like never before. Scholars have hailed “8 Centuries” for its extraordinary narrative and unprecedented scope in rewriting Muslim history in the Americas. The story reflects considerable research and attention to detail with incredible never before seen footage.
