East Orange General Hospital

Dorothy Walton Gatley

The East Orange General Hospital was founded in Newark as the Homeopathic Hospital of Essex County in 1903. In 1926, the Homeopathic Hospital began to take patients at its new location on the corner of Munn and Central avenues. After adding several departments, its name was changed to East Orange General Hospital. The first Candy Striper program to be implemented in the country started at this hospital.
